COMMUNITY OUTREACH

More than just a week of competition, workshops and entertainment, NaFF's yearlong efforts create programs for senior citizens, challenged teens, and high school and college-age filmmakers and embrace the diversity within its own community by partnering with various local cultural and ethnic groups.

Our organization offers lecture and screening programs at elementary, middle and high schools, colleges, museums, libraries and community centers throughout the year. In addition, NaFF also oversees the Young Filmmakers Program designed to teach teens video skills in many of Nashville's community centers such as the Preston Taylor Boys and Girls Club, the Martha O'Brien Center, and the Oasis Center.

Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow, Black Snake Moan) attends 2007 NaFF screening of documentary "It's About Steppin' In the Hood."

Brewer mentored inner-city teens in making the film "Steppin' In the Hood" last summer as a part of NaFF's outreach program with at-risk youth.
