Synopsis of “In the Valley of Elah”

Dir. Paul Haggis, USA, 2007, Rated R for violent and disturbing content, language and some sexuality/nudity.

 
Inspired by true events, “In the Valley of Elah” is Haggis' directing follow-up to the Academy Award winning "Crash."

When model soldier Mike Deerfield (Jonathan Tucker) mysteriously goes AWOL, shortly after returning to the U.S. from the front lines in Iraq, his career officer father Hank (Tommy Lee Jones), enlists the aid of police detective Emily Sanders (Charlize Theron) in the search for his son. His wife Joan (Susan Sarandon) also joins them to uncover the truth of his disappearance.
