Macky Alston's Love Free or Die and Nelson Chang's The Magic Life (which had its world premiere here last April) were both selected for DocuWeeks and will get Academy qualifying runs in both New York and Los Angeles.
Also, Mai Iskander, who won the 2009 Reel Current Award for Garbage Dreams (which made the Academy shortlist for Best Documentary Feature) is also in consideration with her latest Words of Witness, which she shot while back in her native Egypt during the Arab Spring revolution.
